Injection molded plastic, tested to last 25+ yrs in the field 

All plastic is not the same - our boxes are injection molded meaning they are engineered for strength and durability. The plastic we use is UV-stabilized, meaning no warping, cracking, or degradation from sun exposure. This has been independently tested by ExcelPlas to withstand 25+ years exposure to high UV, so you have peace of mind guaranteed.

Ideal for cold climates, down to -50degC

The Discoverer® Series 5 Plastic Core Box can withstand prolonged freezing conditions down to -50degC / -58degF making it ideal to use in colder climates. We have tested our core boxes to be able to handle freezing conditions while still protecting your valuable core. They are currently being used in some of the harshest cold climates, including Canada and Mongolia.

Ergonomic grip handles and flat bottom stability

When you are pulling the box along logging tables or lifting them onto vehicles, getting a decent grip on a fully loaded box is important. Then the flat bottom design ensures smooth movement on roller racking and ball transfer tables in any direction or angle, without disturbing the core samples in the box.

Stronger by design, ready to use no building required!

Over the years the Discoverer range of boxes has been manufactured using more plastic, which may add a few extra grams to the empty weight, but makes for a strong, rigid box when filled with core. The S5 is our strongest yet, designed to hold its shape when ratchet strapped down for transport to the core shack. And there is no assembly required like other plastic boxes - they are ready-to-use right away.

Optional lids to protect your core

The Discoverer S5 Core Box Lid is made from a single-piece molded plastic with integrated clips that hold it firmly on the box. The design allows every core box to be sealed with its own individual lid, and then stacked on top of each other stably.
